Hi. I'm a former graduate student from the
Adaptive Computation Lab at the
University of New Mexico.
While at UNM, I did research with
Stephanie Forrest
and received a Master's degree in Computer Science. Currently, I am a
senior software engineer at a social networking startup called
Geni.com in Hollywood, CA.
Research
The majority of the research I did was in the area of Computer
Security. I designed and implemented a system called RIOT (Responsive
I/O Throttle). RIOT is a system that mitigates network epidemics and
attacks through active responses and anomaly detection. Many of RIOT's
mechanisms were inspired by the immune system. For more information,
read my thesis, or you can download the code.
I also worked on a project with
Mark Newman,
Matt Williamson
and Stephanie Forrest in the area of computer viruses. We studied
the various networks that computer viruses spread over in order to
find better strategies for preventing and slowing their spread.
