| Below we list upcoming non-residential day-long or weekend retreats sponsored by the Albuquerque Vipassana Sangha. (To see info about longer retreats on the schedule see Residential Retreats and Half Day Retreats.) |
| First, a note about Dana: The teachings are offered freely; no compensation for our teachers is included in any fee you might pay to register for a retreat. If there is a fee, it covers only the actual cost of the retreat such as teacher transportation or facilities costs. At the end of the day, students have the opportunity to return the generosity of the teachers by making voluntary contributions (dana) to them. Since our teachers depend largely on dana to support themselves, these student offerings allow them to continue to teach. Dating back to the time of the Buddha, this interdependence between those who offer the teachings and those who receive them has been a beautiful part of our tradition. |
Details below might change. Please check back closer to the retreat for new information and revisions.

| Event: | Day retreat on the topic Reflection and Insight. We look at the use of contemplation and reflection in the meditation practice and explain the difference between reflective and discursive thought. Understanding this difference holds the key to understanding the fourth foundation of mindfulness. |

| Event: | Day retreat on the topic First Stage of Enlightenment. The first stage of enlightenment merits our attention because, presumably, it is what most of us are working on. Three of the ten fetters are overcome at this stage: skeptical doubt, attachment to rites and rituals, and self-view. During this daylong retreat we will explore the meaning of each of these with an eye understanding our practice and how it is unfolding. Participants will practice mindfulness techniques while sitting, walking, eating, and moving about throughout the day. |
