Week 9: July 22th- July 26th
My ninth week at UNM was pretty calm. I pretty much spent all week working on my report. This consisted of me writing the abstract and the conclusion. It also consisted of a lot of revisions and trying to get LaTex to put my figures where I wanted them to go. I have gotten much better at using LaTex but somethings about it still elude me. For instance, I have two citations that will not show up in my paper even though they exist in my bib file and have no errors there. Its a mystery as to why they refuse to compile when I build.
I also submitted poster proposal to the Grace Hopper Conference this week. It was hard reducing all the work I have done this summer into 80 words. Thankfully Lydia helped me and it turned out to sound really good. Hopefully I can get accepted. I plan on working on my poster the last part of this week and next week. The conference isn't until October but I would rather work on the poster while I am here and have access to all the programs and files. Also Lydia and Sandra can give me input and suggestions.
Leisure Time On Wednesday my friend Keenan and I went to the climbing gym. It was so much fun. I am by no means good at rock climbing and only managed to make it all the way up one wall (in my defence there were only 6 auto belay walls and they were all super hard) but I still had a great time doing something different. I have been really bored and restless this week. I guess I should be spending my free time packing up my house because I have to move out next Friday, but I just can't seem to make myself focus long enough to do it. I am restless.
Over the weekend a friend backed into my car and left a huge dent on one of the doors. That incident cast somewhat of a cloud over the weekend but everything turned out ok. My mom came into town Saturday and we went to the department barbeque. I made a pie and it was really nice. Then Saturday night I went to a party with my friends. Sunday was spent napping and going to see Wolverine.
