OS X VPN

This document describes how to configure a VPN connection to the Computer Science Department. This service is only available to faculty and staff.

The first step is to switch to the Finder. The Finder can be located in your dock and looks like a square face.

Click on the Finder. This will open up a new window. Click on the "Applications" icon in this new window.

Now choose "Internet Connect" Once this is selected, click on the "VPN" icon.

This will bring up a window that prompts you to choose PPTP or L2TP over IPSec. We will be using PPTP, so choose this option and click continue.

Choose "Edit Configurations..." from the "Configuration" menu.

Fill in the VPN parameters as follows:

• Description: CS VPN
• Server Address: vpn.cs.unm.edu
• Account Name: use your username. For example, if your email address is johnny@cs.unm.edu, then your username is johnny.
• User Authentication: Password
• Password: enter your password.
• Encryption: Automatic

After filling in the parameters, click "Ok"

Choose "Connect" from the Internet Connect menu from the menu bar at the top of the screen
