Short HistoryWell, how to start? I was born and grew up in a small town in the northern part of Sweden, called Skellefteå. Here I went to both elementary school and later high school. I graduated high school in 1995 and quickly took up the academic path and continued on with 5 years in college, in Luleå at Luleå University of Technology. I focused my studies on hardware and computer networking. Two months after graduation, I flew over to the United States and started grad school in Tucson, AZ (Yes, quite a change in environment). Two years later I graduated from the Computer Science department with a Master's degree, and started working with the Terrestrial Biophysics and Remote Sensing Laboratory (TBRS) in the department of Soil, Water, and Environmental Sciences at the same university. Here I was working mainly with software development for processing of satellite data (MODIS). Then, in August of 2005, I joined the Computer Science department at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, where I'm currently residing and teaching some interesting classes. FamilyMost of my old family still resides in Sweden, but I've started a new family here in the US. I'm married to my wife Snow, since March 2003, and on December 20th of 2007, our son Albin was born. Though he's our first two legged addition to the family, we also have three furry four-legged companions at home. Mason is a toy poodle / bichon mix, who joined us around Christmas 2004, and Mina, who's a terrier-mutt of some sorts, who joined us around thanksgiving 2005. Finally, Timmy - A white shepherd joined us in June 2006. He's a bit older than the other two, and sheds white hair on our everyday lives. InterestsI'm periodically shifting my interests, and currently cycling is the big thing outside the working world. I am a licensed Spinning™ instructor since August 2004, and will hopefully be teaching at a local club if I get the chance. (Update 8/2/2006 - Achieved STAR2 certificiation, 2nd level instructor). Although, indoor cycling has it's charm, there's just nothing like being outside and around on the road. I'm happy that Albuquerque has so many nice roads to bike on. When I get the chance I also like to do some ballroom dancing, although it's been quite a while now. If you know some good hangouts in the area, please let me know. Other than that, I spend some time in the gym when I have time for it and feel like it. An eventual hike in the mountains may also sneak it's way in. There are also some more information about me, including some recent pictures, and other stuff available on my facebook page. |
