Special Characters in the Swedish Alphabet

There are three characters in the Sweidsh alphabet that people outside scandinavia usually are not familiar with. These letters are (first lower case and then upper case):

å, Å, ä, Ä, ö and Ö.

A few words on pronounciation:
å, Å Has the same vowel sound as the english word saw.
ä, Ä Sounds like the vowel in the english word bad.
ö, Ö Is pronounced differently in different parts of Sweden. Some people use the same sound as in the english word turn.

The idea for this page comes from one of my Swedish friends, Håkan Jonsson.
