Hi! I completed my Master's Degree in Computer Science in Spring 2006 at the University of New Mexico. My advisor was Professor Jared Saia. The topic was self-healing networks. We developed an algorithm that maintains network connectivity in the face of node deletions through adding new edges. The edges are "locality aware," meaning that they only connect neighbors of the deleted vertex. The algorithm also limits the degree growth of any vertex to log_2(n). The annoucement for my defense can be found here. Here's a copy of the manuscript: PS | PDF. I am now working at UNM Hospitals, located in Albuquerque, in the web development group. We develop custom web applications used internally in the UNM Hospitals. My original background is in Electrical Engineering, with a BSEE from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (Dec. 1995) and four and a half years work experience at a division of Watkins-Johnson Company (later Stellex Microwave Systems and now part of Tyco Electronics) doing high frequency circuit design. My interests outside of computer science include piano, hiking, wildflower identification, and cross-country skiing. Some of the pieces that I have worked on while at UNM are: a sonata by Mozart (K. 331), Bach Inventions (No. 4, in D minor, No. 6 in E Major), Etude Op. 10, No. 3 by F. Chopin, Sonata No. 53 in E Minor by Franz Joseph Haydn, Gigue from Partita No. 1 In B Flat Major by J.S. Bach, Trapèzes Volants by Joaquin Turina, and the third movement of Sonata No. 10 in G, Op. 14, No. 2 by Beethoven. I was the editor of a quarterly bulletin for the New Mexico Mountain Club. In the winter, I especially enjoy the bus trips with the New Mexico Cross Country Ski Club.
I'm happily married to Erik Boman. |
