Proposal Review Template

CS 460, Spring 2011

Your review must be posted BOTH as a comment to the writer's blog entry AND as an entry in your own blog. You are responsible for acquiring at least one review for your proposal as well as reviewing at least one proposal. Be sure to give a rationale for your scores, i.e. describe why the score was given and what can be done to improve if needed.

Extra Credit will be awarded for multiple reviews (either given or received)

All categories (except "restatement") should have a quantitative score from 1-5 (1 being "poor" and 5 being "excellent").

Part 1: Restatement

Your review MUST restate the project topic/goal in your own words.

Part 2: Quantitative Scoring

Syntax

Is the proposal professional? Is spelling and grammar appropriate? Is the writing clear and sufficiently detailed? Is the story consistent and well structured?

Plausibility

Can the project be completed in 10-12 weeks? Can it be done?

Support

Are the arguments for need and impact supported with evidence or well constructed rationale?

Novelty

Is the project covering a new idea? If it's not a new idea, is the approach sufficiently new or different to make the project worth while?

Stakeholder Identification

Are individuals or organizations impacted by this work identified. This includes users, developers, investors, and secondary audiences.

Scope

Are the boundaries of this work identified? Is it clear what is and is-not part of this project?

Profit/Impact

Does the author identify how this work produces a return on investment, which can be monetary or other.

Security/risk

Does the proposal address obvious security, safety, or other risks where and if applicable?
