www.kernel.org: This is the primary site for the Linux kernel source, but it has much more than just kernels.
www.linuxiso.org: This site list the most popular distributions including debian, gentoo, freeBSD, Knoppix, SuSE, Fedora, etc. besides it has the link to download the ISO image for each distribution.
Debian: This is my favorite OS!!! An operating system is the set of basic programs and utilities that make your computer run. Debian uses the Linux kernel (the core of an operating system), but most of the basic OS tools come from the GNU project; hence the name GNU/Linux. Debian GNU/Linux provides more than a pure OS: it comes with more than 8710 packages, precompiled software bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine. For easy debian installation, try libranet.
Gentoo: For those who are new to linux and want to know how linux works, try install gentoo. Gentoo comes with great installation documentation which gives you the step by step instruction. During the installation, you learn how to build everything by youself. you will be also introduced to use fdisk for disk partition, create filesytems, mount, configure the compile options, bootstrap gentoo system, configure the kernel, configure system including network, configure bootloader if you want to run more than one OS on your machine, and how to use gentoo.
OpenBSD: My experience with openBSD is that it's not user friendly when compare with other linux distributions. But it's very secure with only one remote hole in the default install, in more than 8 years!

TeXnicCenter: TeXnicCenter is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for writing TeX/LaTeX-documents on Microsoft Windows platforms.
