  • Grading: Graded homework assignments (8-10 in all), counting for about a third of the grade, and three examinations counting for about two thirds of the grade. Those figures are tentative and approximate at best: grading is a subjective activity. In general, a student's performance towards the end of the semester is considered more important, especially if it shows improvement over earlier work.
  • Policies: Assignment deadlines are strict: late homework will automatically receive a grade of zero, unless sufficient cause can be shown. No make-up for homework or take-home tests. Make-up for in-class test requires either one week of advance notice (in case of planned absence), or a medical statement (in case of unforeseen problem). Usual university policies for withdrawals, incompletes, academic honesty, etc.; note that collaboration (but not plagiarism!) on homework (but not tests!) is not forbidden, as long as the final product is individually crafted.
