Festivals

All around the world where ever we go the word festival means the same. The feast day, celebrations, sweets, lights, prayers, happiness and lots of smiles and laughters on everybody's face.

India being a land of gods and goddesses, saints, gurus and prophets. We celebrate festivals all the year round. There are various naitonal, regional, seasonal and social festivals. The dates of our festivals are not determined by the linear calender but they keeps on changing depending on the movement of sun and moon. Among many festivals we celebrate Holi, Ganesh Puja, Dussehra and Diwali are the main.

Recently we celebrated Holi on 26 March, 2005. Holi is our most colorful festival that falls on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun. We visit friends and family members houses and smear each other faces with different colors. These colors are symbol of happiness and colorful spring ahead. It is fun putting Gulal and throwing colored water on each other and shooting water filled balloons. Gunjiya is the main sweet of holi and kanji vada and thandai are special drinks for the day.

Please have a look at our Holi snaps on our Photo album section. We had a small get together on Holi and I hope that you will enjoy them.
