I am working on acquiring some zipped copies of Disklavier disks. The idea would be that someone records some music (either in the Public Domain or with the copyright holder's permission) and emails me the whole disk uuencoded.
Anyone who wants to can then download the file, unzip it, and copy all the files onto a floppy for use on the Disklavier (this works even for Macintosh users, since Macs can write DOS disks). There are several advantages to this approach. The song title information is preserved intact, there is no need for special conversion software or a sequencer program. Once the disk is created, the computer is not needed to play the music (in distinction from Midi files which must either be played by the computer, or converted to Disklavier format).
If you have some songs you would like me to put on the web then please write me.
