Announcements
A way to help in Burma, excerpts from email from Spirit Rock: The lineage of our meditation practice ... has its roots in Theravada Buddhist practices learned by our teachers from their teachers in the monasteries of Burma and Thailand... It is with great concern that we hear about the recent cyclone that has devastated many parts of Rangoon, Burma's largest city, as well as the populated lowland areas of the Delta region... In the past Spirit Rock has supported the work of The Foundation for the People of Burma (FPB) who has been working closely in specific communities in Rangoon and southern Burma for many years. FPB is positioned to quickly address people's needs in these areas. FPB's immediate response to the disaster will focus on working with their existing project partners ... to organize and financially support emergency supplies and services ... Donations can be made via the FPB website or by check or money order to Foundation for the People of Burma, 225 Bush Street Suite 590, San Francisco, CA 94104. For questions please call (415) 217-7015.

New book by Shaila is available: Shaila Catherine, former resident teacher and friend of our sangha, has recently published a new book, Focused and Fearless: A Meditator's Guide to States of Deep Joy, Calm, and Clarity. Vicki Gottlieb from our sangha has a box of the books. You can purchase a book for $20, thus saving shipping charges. Contact Vicki at vicki.gottliebstate.nm.us.
