Lists You Can Be On

• Membership List and Postal Announcement List
  To sign up for the membership list and/or to receive sangha postal mailings, please provide your address at any of the group activities, or contact Kempton Lindquist at 505-299-1631 or kemptonlyahoo.com. Give any of the following as you wish: postal address, phone numbers, email address. The information will be included in lists we occasionally make available unless you specify that you don't want your name to appear on the hand-out list. This is a hard-copy list provided only to sangha members.

  We don't send out very many postal mailings. Most announcements are made at sangha meetings, on this web site, and via email.

  IMPORTANT: Even if you gave your email address on a sign up sheet at sangha or to the secretary, you will need to also explicitly sign up for the email announcement list in order to receive email announcements. See below.

• Email Announcement List
  To receive weekly email announcements about sangha activities, please join the abq_sangha email list. To sign up for the list, see instructions below.

• Email Chat List
  Sign up for the chat list to get announcements that are not necessarily sangha-related but that still might be of interest. We'd like to see the list used more since people often request to post non-sangha-related email to the regular announcements list and it gets redirected to the chat list. So far, there is not a lot of email traffic on the chat list, so if you sign up this will not significantly increase the volume of your email, at least not as it is now. The list is intended to be used for conversations or announcements about any topic that may be of interest to list members such as about practice, politics, non-sangha events, items for sale, housing issues, etc. The chat group is not moderated and any list member can post directly to the list using the following address: abq_sangha_chat@yahoogroups.com

  The Albuquerque Vipassana Sangha does not endorse the opinions expressed on the chat list nor does it sponsor or recommend any retreat, workshop, talk, etc. that is announced on the chat list (unless you also see it announced on the sangha web site).

1. Open your email program and prepare to send a new message.
2. In the To field, type in (or copy) this address: abq_sangha-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (that's abq underscore sangha hyphen subscribe). Take great care to get every stroke right, including the underscore between abq and sangha (computers are very literal minded and very picky).
3. Send the email. (It's ok to put in a subject or message but it is not necessary. If your email program complains that there is no subject or message, simply type subscribe in each of those fields.)
4. If you've gotten the address right, Yahoo will automatically send you back a confirmation message.
5. Reply to that message. For most email programs, that means open that email message, hit the reply button, then hit the send button. (Again, you don't have to say anything in the message.) This will confirm your membership on the list and you will start getting email at the email address you used to sign up.

1. Follow the same steps as above except send the email to: abq_sangha_chat-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (that's abq underscore sangha underscore chat hyphen subscribe).

If you want to be a member of both email lists you need to do the above steps for each list. If you have any questions or problems, send email to the list moderator at abq_sangha_mod@yahoo.com

1. Send an email from the email account from which you subscribed.
   • To unsubscribe from the announcements list, send to abq_sangha-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
   • To unsubscribe from the chat list, send to abq_sangha_chat-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
2. You then must confirm your action by responding to the confirmation message that you will receive.
