Roya means sweet dreams

I always dreamed about growing up in a rural area. In reality, I grew up in a small city in the middle of the desert called Birjand. Even as a child I was a leader especially when camping and hiking. I was also known as a climber who could climb our house wall.
I liked math, but hated geography especially the memorization of random things. That is the main reason why I am bad at remembering names even to this day. As a kid, I was hyperactive and couldn’t sit for more than 10 minutes. Now, I can sit for 45 minutes on a good day. I admire those who can focus on a single topic for extended periods of time.
I am a defender of human rights and protector of innocents. Actually, I feel it is my responsibility to do so.
After finishing high school, I started my undergraduate education in computer engineering at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. I had two fantastic instructors who guided me in the right direction. I knew I wanted to take my education further even when I was in elementary school. It was hard for a girl to travel by herself and attend grad school in the US. But, I deeply enjoy every second of being in Computer Science Department of UNM.
I am currently working on researching and learning new ideas, and solving puzzles with my buddy. Mostly, I enjoy new challenges.
