Preface

Very much has happened in American history. This site does not try to tell about all of the important things. What I have tried to do is to tell something about some of the events that helped to shape the way in which American people think. I have tried to write about those events that shaped the character of the American people.

This site grew out of the high school classes in American studies that I taught at the First School in Khmelnitsky, Ukraine. I want to thank the students of the eleventh form of the class of 2000 for their suggestions.

I especially want to thank Sergiy Kyrylkov from the Podillya Technological University who helped in so many different ways. Without his help, the publication of the site would not have been possible.
