Nizamuddin’s Shrine
This hard-to-find shrine at the end of a long, twisting alleyway contains the grave of the Sufi saint Sheikh Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (d. 1325).

The shrine remains a popular pilgrimage site with a segment of the Muslim population, who ask the saint to intercede on their behalf on Judgement Day. Supplicants bring elaborate cloths to lay over the tomb. Women are not allowed inside the shrine, but congregate outside, peering through the marble latticework windows.

The current shrine was erected in 1562.
