PECAN PIE From "Dear Abby" Column 1 cup white Karo syrup 1 cup dark brown sugar (packed firmly) 1/3 tsp. salt 1/3 cup melted butter (I use unsalted, so if you use salted reduce salt above) 1 tsp. vanilla 3 eggs, slightly beaten 1-1/2 cup pecan halves (or large pieces) 1 prebaked pie crust. (I have 10 inch pans, but a 9 inch pan should be okay) Combine syrup, sugar, salt, butter and vanilla. Mix well. Add eggs. Stir until the eggs blend in thoroughly. Mix in half the pecans. Pour into shell and place the remaining pecans on top, lightly pushing them into the syrup. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 1 hour, but check it after 45 minutes. It won't be dry when done, but it should solidify when it cools.
