Me at Garaket La
This is me standing at Garaket La, a pass
[4,280m/14,042ft] along the border of Nepal and Sikkim (India).
The first few days of the trek were particularly frustrating, because
we had constant bad weather -- overcast all the time, even
in the early morning, when it is usually clear; rain most afternoons,
sometimes heavy; and snow when we hiked at higher elevations and
sometimes during the night.
The view from Garaket La is supposed to be awesome, but as you can see
from the photograph, we never experienced it. I actually
enjoyed hiking in the snow, with the cold wind blowing in my face, but I
still would have liked to see the panoramic view.
