The book is aimed mostly at graduate students who have a need to use some sophisticated mathematics and need a review of ( introduction to? ) some of the foundations.
Judah is an old friend and colleague with whom I have now written 4 books; he is a Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston. My 20% contribution is mostly the last and longest chapter on "generalized functions" plus a lot of communication and editing of the rest of the book.
Quite some time ago I sent to Judah a cartoon that I found most amusing. Subsequently Judah located the cartoonist, Harris by name, in Ohio?, and arranged to pay him for permission to use three of his cartoons in our book. They all appear in our preface and, in my opinion, demonstrate that we don't take ourselves too seriously.
