Thanks to Jesse Flemming for doing the data massaging to convert the data into a more accessible format.

MNISTParser.java: A Java program that reads raw MNIST format and produces tab-separated data.
traindata.zip: Compressed training data (11.5Mb compressed).
testdata.zip: Compressed testing data (1.9Mb compressed).
readData.m: A Matlab script for loading the raw data (courtesy of Diane Oyen).
