Project Presentation Slots
These are the project assignment slots as I have them after class on Nov 12. If you change slots (by agreement with the exchangee, naturally), please let me know ASAP and I'll update this. If I have missed you (i.e., you're enrolled in the class for a grade but don't appear below), please tell me and we'll find a place to fit you in.
Each presenter will have about 18 minutes total -- 15 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions. If you need any media arrangements other than the standard transparency projector that lives in the room, be sure to make arrangements (or talk to me about it well in advance and I'll see what I can do for you).
The format of presentations will be that of a conference or an academic colloquium or seminar. Basically, you should aim to address the following points concisely but completely:
- What problem are you trying to solve?
- Why should we care that you're trying to solve it?
- What method did you choose/develop/apply?
- How did you test your method/innovation?
- What were the results? What's interesting about the results? (Note that simply long tables of numbers or graphs are insufficient; by themselves they say nothing and only put the audience to sleep. You must tell us why you're showing us each thing and why we should care.)
- If you have time, it's also nice to mention what extensions you might do in the future or what other related things other researchers have done. (This can often be interleaved with the rest of your presentation rather than just presented as a blob at the end.)
