Riding its wave of success1 in the web search engine market, MondoSoft has decided to take on the gaming market. In its great tradition of leading the way into antiquated technology, MondoSoft has decided that you will implement a single-player, turn based, text adventure game named Zurk. Or, more precisely, you will implement the game engine for Zurk, along with a text-mode interface to it. The game engine will have the capability of loading a general game description from a text file and then executing that game. Because MondoSoft is (not surprisingly) a bit strapped for cash in the writing and game design department, they've asked you to produce a prototype game world for the Zurk engine that will show off its features so that the suits can try to sell it to the VCs.
