Happy faces

There are no happy faces there
only sad, exasperated or busy ones
even worried or conspiring
but no happy ones.

Some are aspiring to happiness
some eyes reflect longing
some faces dreams.

Many hands are busy
holding on to strings
connections to life,
hands, faces, necks, shirts,
busy hands oblivious
of their faces;
in the valley of some hands
rivers of tears flow.

There is just one
happy face,
of a child, a sketch,
a mere outline,
there are no happy faces
but they all
remember that one.
