Description: This community includes Torres Strait Islanders living on the north western side of Waiben (Thursday Island).

Location: Inner Group

Characteristics: TRAWQ comprises the suburbs of Tamwoy, Rose Hill, Aplin, Waiben and Quarantine. As a community it has the largest population in the Torres Strait.

TSRA projects: A community centre built at a cost of over $1,052M was completed in late 1998. There are more than 20 rental houses in this community developed with TSRA and other Commonwealth government funding.

Business enterprises: There is a large CDEP project which provides the community with some training and employment.

TRAWQ runs a commercial bus service.

Future enterprise developments may include a motel and seafood processing.
