Hi Henry, I got an email from Bruno today about a paper we're writing. All businees. Good to know he's working. I will have email access this week when gone. I'll be back LATE on the 10th. I looked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Fdn web page. We can talk when we meet, but nothing looks good for the China project. I didn't really see much international stuff at all, and what I did see was oriented towards kids and underpriviledged and technology access. A great thing to do in their terms is to bring a bunch of computers to Vanuatu and put them in schools, libraries etc. I think we might be able to try them for funding for the Abo stuff. I'm still going through the susheng stuff, but here are a few questions that occurred to me. I realize some of them we can't easily ask. 1. Who are the "foreign scholars" he went with to Huashan in 1999? 2. Is there some way we can get the publication at Alice Springs in July 2000? 3. Should we start experimenting with digital video? 4.. If he's interested in standardization, could we set up a "field school" type of project at any old site that's convenient and people could come to. purpose: work on and develop the standard using several modern methods like digital video, digital photos, gps, gis, databases 5.How are we ever going to do this if we can't talk to each other? ;-) I'll keep working on it.
