Hello Margarita,

    I hope you will remember that we met in Vila Real and 
that you mentioned during my talk that you thought that there
was a paper by Robert Layton that was related to our work.
As you may recall, we had several people record the same panels
and tried to measure and quantify some of the variations.

    I have finally gotten some time free to work on this issue and
I wonder if you can easily recall the specifics of the reference.
My colleagues have looked and have given me a paper titled,
"Figure, Motif and Symbol in the Hunter-Gatherer Rock Art of
Europe and Australia," which was published in the AURA 1988
Proceedings.  It seems related to our discussion, but I'm not
sure it is the paper you had in mind.

    Once again, I enjoyed your paper and appreciated your comments
on our paper.  I hope your work is going well.  I see you are already
heavily involved in the Ripon, Wisconsin conference.  If it is
convenient, I look forward to hearing from you and I wish you a
happy holiday season.
