I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I'm a Professor in the UNM Computer Science Department. As part of this job, I serve as the Director of the UNM Center for Advanced Research Computing, and director of the UNM Scalable Systems Laboratory. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 2002 working under the direction of Prof. Rick Schlichting, and my B.S. from Mississippi State University in 1994, where I worked with Prof. Tony Skjellum.

My general research interests focus on system software for large-scale computer systems, particularly high-performance scientific computing systems. As part of this, I collaborate with a wide range of other researchers both inside and outside of UNM; more information on my research is available on a a separate web page.

Outside of work, I have a wide range of interests, many of which involve my wonderful family. This includes photography, tennis, climbing, the Game of Go, and other outdoor activities. Politically, I'm an unapologetic liberal. Again, more information on my non-academic interests can be found on a separate web page
