Distributed Virtual Machines Implemented in FPGAs Recent work has shown how expressions in a functional programming language can be compiled into an asynchronous spatial computation. This asynchronous spatial computation is comprised of bytecodes reified as actors undergoing diffusion. We are designing a physical substrate for hosting distributed virtual machines in FPGA hardware. We demonstrate preliminary results showing diffusion of bytecodes based on a cellular automata implementation of a pseudo random number generator at each site.
