BabelGaim

BabelGaim is a perl plugin for gaim that utilizes the babelfish.altavista.com SysTran interface to translate IM conversation between the supported languages.

Requirements

BabelGaim requires the Lingua::Translate perl module to be correctly installed on your system. You may also want to install the extra character sets. At this point, attempting to load the plugin, without the Translate module, will crash gaim.

Installation.
1. Verify that you have installed the Lingua::Translate perl module (refer to cpan)
2. Put the perl script your .gaim directory
3. Start gaim, open Tools->Perl->Load Script
4. Choose the translation script.

Usage.

BabelGaim has various builtin commands that you can use from any IM chat window. Please be aware that you need to close all conversations before loading the BabelGaim. If you don't, gaim is likely to crash.

• /infish - activates/deactivates translation for incoming mesgs
• /outfish - activates/deactivates translation for outgoing mesgs
• /language_send_dest lang - sets the language you want outgoing mesgs translated into.
• /language_send_src lang - sets the language you want outgoing mesgs translated from.
